Kara Keene

Kara is a Raleigh, NC native and a former college and high-school English teacher turned Yoga teacher. But Kara didn't always know she'd teach yoga - she just knew she wanted to teach and build community that embraces every individual exactly as they are. This realization is when yoga found Kara.
When she was in graduate school, yoga rooted itself firmly in Kara's life. She needed an outlet to deal with the anxiety and stress of learning and teaching in a high-performing academic environment that didn't always embrace the beauty of diversity. Kara quickly established a regular yoga practice and began to share yogic and breathing techniques she was learning with her students. The shift she observed in herself and her students was transformative and magical.
In 2020, while living in Memphis, TN, and after having her daughter, Kara knew she needed a life change. So, she enrolled in and completed her 200-hr YTT with the TN School of Yoga. After moving back to NC, and while pregnant with her son, Kara completed her 85-hour Prenatal YTT at Blue Point Yoga in Durham.
She plans to embark on her 300-hr YTT hour journey in 2024.
Kara's goal in every yoga class she teaches is to help students journey inward to discover their unique beauty. She strives to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and safe enough to express their truest selves through breath and movement. Her classes are an amalgamation of traditional asana with a creative flair, organic, exploratory movement, and stillness.
Off her mat, Kara loves to bake and tries to grow flowers with her daughter and son. She also loves curling up with a good book and a strong cup of coffee.
These are Kara's regularly scheduled classes. Check the schedule for any changes.
